Single people sharing accommodation can receive up to $143.60 per fortnight in Rent Assistance ($10.26 per day). The sharer rate is two-thirds of the standard single rate, reflecting the assumption that costs are shared with housemates. You reach the maximum when your share of rent reaches $343.47 per fortnight. Rates are indexed in March and September.

The sharer rate applies when you share accommodation with at least one other person who is not your partner or dependant. The maximum is two thirds of the standard single rate.

How it's calculated
You receive 75 cents for every dollar of rent above the threshold, up to the maximum. Rent below $152.00/fn receives no assistance.
