Single parents receive up to $1,046.70 per fortnight ($74.76 per day) through Parenting Payment Single. This payment is for the principal carer of a child under 8 who is not partnered. It uses a lower income taper rate (40 cents per dollar) than most other payments, meaning your payment reduces more slowly as your income rises. Rates are indexed in March and September each year.

The income free area starts at $224.60/fn for one child and increases by $24.60 for each additional child. Parenting Payment Single uses a 40-cent taper — lower than most other payments, so your payment reduces more slowly as income rises.
